This program serves individuals who have experienced discrimination in employment, housing, education, healthcare, or public services. We work with families facing systemic barriers, youth experiencing bullying or bias, seniors encountering age discrimination, and anyone seeking support and resources to address discriminatory treatment. Our services are confidential and provided without judgment.
Individuals can access our services through self-referral, community referrals, or outreach efforts. Each person meets with a trained support specialist who assesses their situation and needs. We provide information about legal rights and options, referrals to appropriate resources (legal aid, counseling services, social services), assistance with documentation and reporting processes, and emotional support during difficult situations. We connect individuals with culturally competent service providers and maintain ongoing communication to ensure needs are met. Support is provided in multiple languages and adapted to individual circumstances.
The Support Services Program recognizes that experiencing discrimination can have profound effects on individuals' well-being, economic stability, and sense of safety. Since our program launched, we've assisted over 1,500 individuals and families in accessing resources, understanding their rights, and taking appropriate action. Our support specialists have backgrounds in social work, counseling, community organizing, and civil rights advocacy. We maintain partnerships with legal aid organizations, mental health providers, employment services, housing assistance programs, and other essential resources. Services include crisis intervention for immediate situations, assistance with filing discrimination complaints, navigation of legal and administrative systems, connection to mental health support for trauma related to discrimination, and advocacy with institutions on behalf of individuals facing barriers. We also provide follow-up support to ensure that referrals result in meaningful assistance and that individuals feel empowered throughout their journey. The program tracks outcomes and identifies patterns of discrimination to inform our advocacy and education efforts. Many individuals we've supported have become advocates themselves, using their experience to help others.
