    Who Benefits

This program serves community members of all ages who want to understand their rights, learn about the history of civil rights movements, and become advocates for equality. We prioritize individuals from marginalized communities who may face discrimination, as well as allies who wish to become informed advocates for social justice and inclusive practices.

    How It Works

Participants engage in interactive workshops, seminars, and educational sessions led by civil rights experts, educators, and community advocates. Sessions cover topics including anti-discrimination laws, recognizing bias, bystander intervention, and effective advocacy strategies. Programs are offered both in-person and online, with materials available in multiple languages to ensure accessibility. Each participant receives resource guides and ongoing support to continue their learning journey and become advocates in their own communities.

    Program Details

The Civil Rights Education Program has been our cornerstone initiative, reaching over 2,000 community members since its launch. We employ an engaging approach that combines historical context with contemporary issues, helping participants understand both the progress made and the work that remains. Our educators include civil rights historians, legal experts, community organizers, and individuals with lived experience of discrimination. The curriculum addresses various forms of discrimination including racial, gender, age, disability, and LGBTQ+ discrimination. We cover federal and state civil rights laws, workplace rights, housing rights, educational equity, and access to public services. Special sessions focus on recognizing implicit bias, understanding systemic discrimination, and developing strategies for creating inclusive environments. The program runs year-round with specialized sessions during Black History Month, Women's History Month, and other culturally significant periods.
